We created a goal to let local business owners know that we exist and one of the best ways to do that is with good old fashioned SEO.
Steck Insights Local SEO Results
I started by creating a Colorado Springs Web Design page and telling people about our process and what our company stands for. Next, I used a tool called page optimizer pro to analyze my competition and to assist me in crafting a page that would rank on page 1. This tool uses an SEO strategy called the Scientific On-Page Method to dissect the competition’s content and give me actionable steps on how to outrank them.
After creating the page, I simply went through our custom local SEO checklist that we use when we start on a new SEO client. The checklist has 4 phases.
Phase 1: Research Phase
Phase 2: Tracking, Plugins & Tools
Phase 3: Onsite/Technical SEO
Phase 4: Local SEO Optimization
This last phase is where much of the tedious work happens but it is essential for ranking locally.
I started by optimizing our Google My Business by adding images, a business description, services, the correct service area, reviews from past clients, etc. I optimized our Bing Places for business and added about 200 other business citations. A citation is simply any web-based mention of your business, address and phone number. Adding the correct geo-specific and niche citations is an important step in ranking locally. An example of a geo-specific citation is springsguide.com and a niche-specific citation for our business would be topdesignfirms.com. Every industry has these citation sites and they are powerful citations to have.
Local SEO Results
Okay, I am sure you would like to hear about the results. Below are some before and after screenshots from Google Maps, Google My Business, and a look at some of the leads that came from our local SEO work.
Google Maps Results
As you can see we are at the top of Google’s Map Pack for the keyword ‘Web Design Colorado Springs’ and for ‘Web Design Colorado’. The first keyword receives about 480 searches per month and the second gets 390 searches per month. The great thing about these keywords are that they have fantastic user intent. Simply put if someone is looking for web design Colorado Springs they are likely ready to call someone and get a website built. We have started receiving a lot of local leads thanks in large part to these keywords.
